Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get there?

  • Fly to Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson (ATL) airport, arriving by 5pmET on June 11th. Our shuttle will pick you up and bring you to the location.
  • If driving, drive directly to the festival address in Buford, GA, provided after you register. Parking is free.

How do I get home?

  • Take our free shuttle to the airport the morning of June 17th.
  • The shuttle will be leaving EARLY to accommodate early departures. Try to book early flights home so that you don’t spend all day in the airport!
  • If driving, drive home safely!
  • Those not taking the airport shuttle must depart by 9am on Saturday, June 17th.

What’s the food situation?

  • Food will be catered by Illuminations Catering. We will all have kitchen duty a couple times for simple preparations. This helps us make thesymposium more affordable and builds our team.
  • Please let us know on the registration page about any food allergies or dietary needs for which you require accommodation.
  • Three meals are offered daily in our dining room.
  • Meals are provided beginning Monday morning and ending Friday evening. Plan accordingly.

What should I bring?

  • Trumpets
  • Mutes
  • Music (paper or tablet)

  • Swimwear for the pool/hot tub
  • Pajamas
  • Towel for pool if you desire one beyond your bath towel.

  • Casual attire
  • One, all-black concert outfit including shoes

What are the daily hours of the symposium and what should I expect?

  • 9am Breakfast
  • 945am Group Warm Up and Interactive Technical Routines
  • 11am Special Topics Discussion: Entrepreneurship, Auditions, Peak Performance, Psychology of Improvement, Marketing
  • 12pm Lunch
  • 1pm Masterclass with Core or Guest Artists
  • 3pm-4pm Break/Practice/lesson
  • 4pm Trumpet Ensembles/Section Excerpts
  • 5pm Lessons/practice
  • 6pm Dinner
  • 7pm-9pm Practice
  • 9pm Group activities NO PLAYING after 9pm

How do the private lessons work?

  • Everyone will receive three lessons total with registration with our core artists, one each with David Dash, Mary Elizabeth Bowden and Nathan Warner.
  • Two will be taught in person and one will be via zoom before or after the Symposium.
  • Signups for in-person lessons will occur on a first-come, first-serve basis upon arriving at the Mansion.
  • Missed lessons will be made up at the discretion of the teacher.
